So, I actually picked upwards book 3 to read only chop-chop realized I remembered none of the characters or what had previously happened. I decided to go back and reread this to jog my memory. I actually liked it just a wee flake ameliorate this fourth dimension. Probably my mood and my need for insta-love right now. This is certainly style OTT. It's definitely rushed in several places and however needs fleshing out more than. In that location's also a bad guy...think mustache twirling cartoon villain.

This was "okay". I liked both characters but I think they could have been fleshed out more. A lot of the plot could have been fleshed out more than as well. Totally insta-love...they are saying ILY'due south in about 5 days. All of information technology just seemed very rushed. I think it had the potential to exist better. I'll probably read the adjacent one. One of the guys doesn't speak...I'm interested....

The author mentions Alexa Land in her notes. I get that. I can see the influence. Just add 1 million more times the crazy and yeah, I can see it.

If you're picking this up and expecting a realistic story....
This is insta EVERYTHING....insta-friends, insta-family, insta-dear....insta-non conceivable.
The plot is ridiculous, the author uses misogynistic comments and gay cliches to make jokes....basically this book is a big mess.

I enjoyed the story equally a whole, information technology was a definite page turner, and very entertaining. I really liked Alfie and Fear, the kids were cute, Alfie'due south mum Sheridan was a freaking hoot, Alfie's stepfather Ben was crawly, and Fear's entourage of friends and his sister were a joy to read.
The romance itself is whiplash fast - I'grand talking from meeting to I love yous within a calendar week.
If you like fast paced romances with insta-love, humor, mystery and suspense Succumbing to His Fright may tick off all your boxes.I enjoyed the story as a whole, information technology was a definite page turner, and very entertaining. I really liked Alfie and Fear, the kids were cute, Alfie's mum Sheridan was a freaking hoot, Alfie's stepfather Ben was awesome, and Fright'south entourage of friends and his sister were a joy to read.
The romance itself is whiplash fast - I'm talking from meeting to I dear you within a week. That is super quick. They've only been together I remember four times earlier they're declaring themselves and vowing forever, and I felt similar it was maybe a smidgen as well fast?
However, I'm a terrible romantic at middle so I usually overlook insta-beloved. It's sweetly done in the story and then information technology didn't bother me then much equally throw me off a fiddling.
I actually take only two complaints, first the story holds one of my biggest pet peeves - the consequent utilize of "girl" things as an insult. Examples: "I detest that I sound like a fucking girl." "I was starting to audio like a needy teenage girl." "Okay, so yep, I was sounding similar a whiney little daughter" I'll admit when I read things similar that information technology drives me nuts. Though, honestly, it probably won't bother the majority of readers.
Second, I experience similar there were major scenes that happen off page. I would take really liked a meliorate bird'south center view of certain situations (their night together, the meeting with the cop and identifying the body, the interrogations, etc.), especially as this is written in the start person POV of both Alfie and Fright. I wanted more than depth with those dire or romantic situations.
Though the editing and proofreading could use a little more than polishing, on the whole information technology's a really entertaining story that I liked a lot. Information technology'southward a fun read.
I am as well actually excited that I got an excerpt at the end for "Sharpening His Broken Talon", which looks similar the next installment in this new series! I can't wait to read it!

*A copy of this book was provided for complimentary past the author in exchange for an honest review throught the Don't Purchase My Love consequence.*Alfie is 24 years old when he gets the news his male parent, unseen for near two decades, is killed in a auto accident. The same dad who built a whole new family which Alfie knew nothing nearly. His two siblings are now waiting for him to accept care of them. Moreover they are in usa, non in London where Alfie lives and to look subsequently them, he needs to move to Pennsylvania. Of form he tin can't abandon them and at that place will begin a new life to Alfie and his new big family.
I acknowledge I'm a sucker for those kind of stories, I admire reading about children and the first meeting with Griffin and Lily left me with puffy eyes. I loved the nuggets. The book caught my attention from the starting time. It was hard to put my kindle down and bargain with my RL. I liked the characters, all of them, especially cause I usually enjoy a large support cast and here we had so many not bad second characters I'd honey to read more of. One more thing I loved was how hands Alfie accustomed his desire for Fright, no second thoughts, no issues to solve, he just followed his middle and trunk.
The only reason why I'm giving Succumbing To His Fearfulness "just" four stars is due to the mystery role, so unreal, it just didn't convince me. Simply if you can overcome the trite ending, you will find the novel by River Mitchell a pleasure to read. I surely will read the next book in the serial well-nigh Tate and Talon. Tin can't look!
Beautiful cover past Jay Aheer.

4.v Fearless and Laughter StarsDo y'all joke when you are nervous? Well, Alfie certain does and he will keep y'all laughing throughout the whole story. The things he says will make you laugh out loud. He must take gotten his humor from his mother, Sheridan, who equally a secondary character was brilliant, fun-loving, and at times stole the show. She is a mom that all moms should take subsequently.
I was engaged in this story and read it in one sitting. My heart was a footling saddened at the beginning from Alfie's story and especially the letter from his father, but as soon every bit the little Nuggets, aka, Griffin and Lily come up into the story, I started to experience the love and my center was constantly being filled. Griffin at times, broke my center with his fear of losing people he loves merely Lily balances it by bringing in the classic kid no-fright ane-liners like –
"Wow yous're big. Are yous a cuddle monster? Similar Sully?" Lily was asking 6'8" Fear that when she first saw him. His response? "I take no idea who Sully is, Angel, but I practice honey to cuddle." At that moment I laughed and roughshod in love with Fear. How could I non?
Fright was just that, a cuddle monster, and a protective teddy bear behind his big tatted up frame, especially if yous were lucky to exist the few who were in his circle. He was never good with expressing his emotions in words, but definitely could in actions. Alfie just got him. He understood Fright. Fear thought Alfie's "give-and-take vomit" every bit Alfie calls it when there is silence was perfect.
These two were consummate opposites of each other, yet were amazing together. The pity, respect and love that they showed each other was heart warming. They never pushed each other and let the pieces fall together naturally. River Mitchell wrote a bright story bringing these ii men into each other's lives. At that place was suspense and at times, I found myself holding my breath. There were twists throughout the story that kept me reading. There was sweet and romance and establish myself awing more times than not. There was deep agreement and I wish everyone could notice that in everyone else. There was humor and I was laughing out loud that at times I looked around to see if anyone was watching me even though I was alone.
Whether you believe in soulmates or non, River Mitchell had Alfie express it the best as Alfie had always been direct before meeting Fear, just felt that immediate connection and knew he was the i for him.
"If you felt it, you lot felt information technology…Labels were for people who needed to define everything and then they could make sense of information technology for themselves. I had e'er preferred to but alive my life and let anybody live theirs."
My only thought that could have fabricated this story ameliorate would have been more physical description of the characters. I had a difficult time trying to make a mental visual of a complete Alfie and Fear, aside from their center color.
Overall, I would recommend this story to anybody. This story has a little bit of everything in a good storyline that touches all the emotions. The secondary characters were but fabled and added a lot of depth. I am looking forrard to what River Mitchell volition write next and volition most definitely catch it to read.

I was fiddling worried when I saw this was the author'south first book seeing every bit they usually have a agglomeration of misspelled words, words used incorrectly etc. Non so here. It was patently edited by someone other than the author. Alfie and Fearfulness were just the cutest. It was a bit of an insta-love but I feel it worked here. Fear seemed pretty badass and Alfie was a bit of a mess. They just fit together. I loved the kids and Alfie'southward mum was the best person ever! I want to exist her! Nosotros had a bit of a mystery along with our romance and it kept me turning the pages until the wee hours. Super enjoyable.
There was a adequately large cast of characters in this one and so I'chiliad hoping for a whole serial based on them. I know we become Talon'southward story next. Can't wait!

JOSIE'S REVIEW
I was so thrilled to finally get my hands on Succumbing to His Fear. I happen to exist a fan of m/m novels, just what makes a expert m/1000 read for me is a story inside a story. I demand for the human relationship to be natural, a slow build and congenital on life experiences. Succumbing to His Fearfulness was that kind of story. This book had me feeling a sense of contentment and I smiled more times than I can count. It was such a pleasant change. I was and then engrossed and lost in the writing descriptions and story, I felt similar I was there. I felt everything the characters felt in this story the feelings, conflicts, fears, desires and passion.
We meet Alfie, after his male parent's death he becomes the caretaker for his two younger siblings (these picayune ones stole my heart). Alfie is determined to have intendance of his siblings and give them a life he has always wanted. Along the way he meets Fear. Fear and Alfie have an instant attraction, a connectedness of sorts, but for Alfie these feelings are strange, he has never been drawn to a male before. What follows is Alfie sorting out his very confused feelings for Fear and coming to terms with it.
These two characters are so lovable. They are 2 unlike personalities only together they are ane. Alfie has some oddities to his personality only he is so sweet, caring and giving. He loves his siblings with everything in him. From a unmarried man with no responsibilities we run across him turn into a man that will do anything for his family. Fear, OMG!! I love him he is a total alpha male person, he is closed off simply when it comes to Alfie he is anything but. This is why these two work well together, where Alfie is more laid back and second guessing his feelings, Fearfulness is a go getter. Fright knows what he wants and he isn't afraid to push Alfie. Fear and Alfie are so protective of their very unusual and unique family structure. Finally they both have something that neither knew was missing and that is a family, real dear and a purpose in life. When their lives face existence torn autonomously, Alfie and Fear both fight not lose all they have accomplished.
In that location are then many twists that happen in this book, which only fabricated this story better than I imagined. I loved how the author takes readers on this journey with new experiences. I constitute myself not wanting this story to end. I loved the human relationship and advice between Alfie and Fearfulness. Reading every new experience with Alfie was so captivating. Fright was such a thoughtful lover. He was patient and helped coax Alfie through this feelings and experiences. I can't wait to see what else River Mitchell will bring this in the future.

My Review ~
Succumbing To His Fear is the debut volume by author River Mitchell, and what a debut volume it turned out to exist. I was happily surprised because this story pretty much hit it out of the park for me, out of nowhere also!
The story starts off with Alfie completely uprooting his life to motion from England to the States in order to take over guardianship of his much younger siblings. Now from the moment you meet Alfie you tin run into he's a sweetheart and is dealing with quite a scrap from his past and now his new hereafter. It makes you desire to wrap this boyfriend upwardly tight and give him hugs for days. Not simply does he accept to parent his siblings that he's never met just he's moving away from his family and all his friends. Then with life throwing him an unexpected twist, he adapts as much as he tin but all the same finds himself a bit lost with no one here to footing him.
If Alfie doesn't steal your heart so his brother Griffin and sister Lily nearly definitely will, considering they are adorable. Griffin is dealing with a bunch of separation anxiety but piddling Miss Lily is a feisty daughter who is ready to take the earth on. After she gives her big brothers lots of love. And then they run across the tattooed mountain that is Fearfulness and with him, all his friends.
Fear, his sister Hailey, and the family that they've made with their friends is a force to exist reckoned with. They are fiercely loyal and protective of each other. They're all just a touch intimidating equally a group, especially for Alfie. Even if he can't keep his eyes off Fear, fifty-fifty though he isn't certain why he can't look abroad. Fear has ever known he'd find the One... and from the moment he lays eyes on Alfie well permit's just say Fear is smitten. If a 6ft 5, grumpy gus can exist smitten that is.
Yes, Succumbing To His Fearfulness is a chip of an Insta-Love volume, but really Alfie and Fear together are about as perfect as you can get. They honestly are the one person that makes the other one consummate, even at the start when they're just friends they have that bond. It but steadily strengthens and grows throughout the book. They really are a case of opposites attract but in the best fashion possible. Fear is a protector, Alfie is a nurturer, and between the ii of them they make the entire group stronger.
Succumbing To His Fear is a great start book, it shows off this author's writing skills with a strong well paced storyline, and a solid bandage of chief and secondary characters. She added in enough sense of humour to make you laugh out loud, plenty seriousness and emotions to make you sniffle, and just a bear upon of suspense to give it that added zing. I know after reading this I've constitute a new author to add together to my i to picket list.
I highly recommend this volume to anyone that enjoys Riley Hart, or Felice Stevens.

iii.5* starThis is an insta-love GFY with a murder mystery/suspense plot.
Alfie, 24, English language, tall, vitrify and tatted receives news that he has been given guardianship of his estranged begetter'southward 7and 3 yr old son and daughter on his expiry. He travels to the USA to run into "the nuggets" and takes on the responsibility of raising them. He meets 'Fear' in a diner, 6ft 8', man of very few words, built like a behemoth, tatted and owner of a Tattoo store, they feel a connectedness and afterward a less than stellar offset coming together, crash-land in to each other at a bar and Alfie wakes the following morning, naked in Fright's bed with his hand on his arse.....and no recollection...... and then information technology begins.......
Alfie is humorous, sarcy and total of wit, especially when he'southward nervous. His obvious adoration of his half-siblings is evident and they return it. Lily was super-cute every bit simply a 3 year quondam can exist. I struggled to identify Alfie in my head, in that location is no clarification of him as such, autonomously from two observations and him being tall and muscled was not the *voice* in my head.....and straight..... errrrrrr???? Fearfulness was merely a man mountain, non an articulate man, but has a soft heart for a small circle of very close friends and his sis, non one to openly seek people outside this group. So, his instant connection with Alfie was a huge deal.
In that location were quite a number of additional characters, Sheridan is Alfie's mum and was just a card, full of wit and non agape to vocalization an opinion or communication. There is Hayley, Fear'south sister, her husband John, the boys from the tattoo shop, Ben - Sheridan'south husband......!!!! They all added to the story, just a few times I had to reread to get the characters sorted in my head!
There are a couple of things I didn't enjoy virtually the story. For starters, in that location was no mention what so ever of a murder/mystery plot!! I don't read these. I idea this was nearly an English gars, learning his way through forced parenthood, in a new country, finding honey he didn't look and maybe picayune drama round that. Nope.....this is an OTT corrupted police investigation into the murder of Fear and Hayley's druggie mum. Including a bizarre storyline that I did not feel invested in and after the tertiary heart whorl wanted to get off the merry-go-round. This went on for over half the book!!! In that location were also an normally high usage of "like a daughter" insults, I'm non sure what this tried to accomplish, apart from irritate me and make Alfie sound similar a twat.
At that place were a few instances where I felt the author either overlooked an event to be likewise much problem to write or just genuinely skipped it as of no importance - the first one being the commencement drunken night Alfie and Fear spent together talking.....y'all go zip more than a passing comment, this was supposedly a huge issue for both men, this is how the insta-love/connexion started!! The second was at the police force station - no dialogue of interviews or thought process for any of the characters, which was frustrating when it needed something clearer and more detailed to beginning the crazy situation!!
I have to say, that I did savour the story aside the murder plot, it was engaging and full of potential and I wished more pages had been given over to this. The ending is a HFN, the epilogue is 9 months downward the line and Fear has "new family" who visit - setting information technology up for the sneak peek for the next book, his half-brother Talon.
Overall, an entertaining debut story, non my usual blazon of read, merely the sneak peek looks good, so will expect out to read in the hereafter.

The cute cover grabbed me right abroad on this ane. I'thou not usually a fan of children in my stories, but that didn't bother me here.
Alfie is a young British guy who is somewhat decumbent to panic attacks, though he pretty much has them nether control at this indicate. Later on finding out his father (who had basically abandoned him at an early age, with no contact since) has died and left his two young children to Alfie, he heads to the U.South. to stride upward and take guardianship.
I absolutely adored Alfie. He's funny and beautiful, and takes on a lot of responsibility in a short amount of time. He meets Fear and the gang (takes a while to go past his name being Fright) while out dining with the kids (or nuggets, as he calls them). He and Fear experience an immediate connection, but misunderstandings keep that from going any further.
When circumstances put them in the same path again, and Alfie gets to know Fearfulness and the guys, he is happy to accept such friendships at a time when he really needs them. He decides life is likewise short and to follow his heart and adventure on being with Fright. At present, Alfie is British, so I constitute this a fleck more believable knowing how much more open they tend to exist where sexual matters are concerned. Information technology really just worked hither.
There'due south a scrap of instalove going on as well, but again, it just seemed to work with these guys. In that location is a lot going on in this story, and information technology is the culmination of these events that somewhat forces these guys' relationship on a fast rail. Regardless, they were really good together. Fearfulness is this big badass tattooed guy with a centre of gilt, and Alfie is sweet, funny, also tattooed, and really piece of cake to dearest.
There are some not bad side characters here likewise. Alfie'southward mom is a hoot, and the kids were pretty ambrosial.
I actually do not like mentioning anything in my reviews about editing, as I often receive early on, unpolished, versions. However, there were just and then many typos, missing words, etc. that it continually pulled me from the story. One on almost every folio is simply likewise much to ignore. There were too a few things that became besides repetitive, such as "…like a girl" that were a chip bothersome.
Those problems aside, this was a fun, exciting story past a showtime-fourth dimension author that shows a lot of promise. At that place was fabulous dialog and sexy/sweetness sex activity scenes forth the way. It was a fast read that kept me turning pages right up to the cease, and I will definitely be looking for more than from River Mitchell in the future.

This – I believe- is the debut book for this writer – River Mitchell and it'southward Amazing!
I was captivated from the moment I started. Alfie'due south graphic symbol and his female parent are what hooked me right abroad. Alfie is so self-effacing and sweet but snarky and funny that I loved being in his caput when information technology was his POV. Though it doesn't always work well, the POV alternated between Alfie and Fear and it worked tremendously in this case. Fear'southward internal dialog is so unlike from Alfie that it was a lovely contrast.
The drama did bog downwardly the story toward the terminal third of the book, simply only in a minor mode. There were likewise moments where I had to – pretty firmly – suspend my disbelief – but only in the best, nearly imaginative means.
I loved this book very much and highly recommend information technology to fans of GFY, insta-love/soul mates, British sense of humor, tattoos, artists, guys with kids, and big sexy MCs.

Alfie, (and then cute) found out that his absetee father had been killed in an accident with his wife, making him the guardian of his lilliputian brother and sister that he had no idea existed. Fortunately, his father had been around but in the shadows and so his lilliputian blood brother and sis knew exactly who he was an adored him even before he met them. I admittedly loved this entire story!Alfie, (so cute) establish out that his absetee begetter had been killed in an blow with his wife, making him the guardian of his picayune brother and sister that he had no idea existed. Fortunately, his father had been around just in the shadows so his niggling brother and sister knew exactly who he was an adored him even before he met them. So, moving to united states to be the parent they at present needed, he savage in love with them immediately. And who wouldn't they were then stinkin cute.
Fear, who was out for dinner one night with his honrary brothers, meets Alfie and his *Nuggets* as he likes to call the kids, he knows immediately at that place is a connectedness with him and even though he's big and scary lookin', no 1 is afraid of him, least of all the kids who seem to fall in love with him too. Later on a tragedy has Fear going to the morgue and Alfie is at that place for him, from there it'due south one big mess of murders and framing people and bigotry.... It's a wild ride thats for sure, I don't wanna give besides much away though, information technology's hard to explain without telling key details lol AND I'm a horrible explainer....
All the same, I absolutely loved the relationship between Fear and Alfie, I loved how much the little kids loved Fear and how they all adopted each other and Fears family unit and Alfie'due south family combined. I loved Alfies mom who was amazing to not only the kids, but the big kids equally well. Taking them all under her wing, and he was a nut and hilarious.
I can not look to read about Tate and Talon, It's going to drive me crazy until it comes out. The majority of this book is and then sweet and I only loved it, and the rest of it had me on the border of my seat, turning pages similar crazy, I didn't put it downwards until I was finished... It was that awesome.

Gay for you? Family drama? Humor? Falling in beloved/lust faster than the speed of low-cal? Murder mystery? A chief grapheme who is genetically predisposed (his mama suffers from the same affliction) to saying what he thinks with no input from his brain? I laughed, groaned, complained, and read every word. I liked it. I succumbed in spite of myself.
